WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY DANCE?
Contemporary dance is an expressive, flowing and dynamic dance style. It combines features from various different dance genres such as lyrical, ballet and jazz, but because it does not have any set rules or limitations it makes it particularly hard to describe. Ultimately contemporary dance focuses on freedom of movement and for this reason it makes it especially accessible to participants of various experience levels and backgrounds.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CONTEMPORARY DANCE CLASS
Amie's contemporary dance classes will start with warm-up exercises focusing on mobilising and stretching, and preparing the body for movement. Then it will lead into more flowing sequences in the centre, such as swings and shifts of weight, to build coordination and focus on the enjoyment of expansion and the freedom of movement. Next, there will be travelling sequences across the space, to help work on stamina, strength and agility. Lastly we will focus on longer contemporary dance routines, where you can really enjoy the expressive and performance element of the dance style, and work the brain and body simultaneously! Exercises are performed to a range of musical tracks, such as acoustic and chart songs.
